Costa Blanca Golf

Moving north to the Alicante area courses such as Alenda, Alicante, Bonalba, El Plantio and Font del Llop will offer a superb golfing experience to golfers of all standards.

Alenda and Font Del Llop are located within 3.5 km of each other just north of Elche near the town of Aspe and are both a severe golfing challenge and with superb mountain views.

The area around Benidorm has a smaller selection of golf courses available such as La Galiana, La Sella, Oliva Nova and Villaitana but these courses are always in excellent condition and re-visited by many satisfied golfers on a regular basis.

The Poniente course at Villaitana is a little gem of par 62 and along with the par 72 Levante Championship course offer stunning sea and mountain views.

La Sella is a championship course of the highest quality and has held LPGA competitions featuring some of the worlds best women golfers.

For those golfers planning on playing golf on the Costa Blanca North you just have to pay some of these courses a worthy visit.

Alenda Golf

Alenda

The Alenda golf course is situated in the foothills of the Sierra de las Aguilas mountains and is close to the city of Alicante. There is something on offer for all standards of golfer with generous wide fairways for the majority of holes BUT on the back nine there are some serious risk and reward holes that can result in easy birdies or a card destroyer.

The facilities include a 14 bay driving range and practice chipping and putting greens as you would expect and a large modern clubhouse has now been constructed replacing the smaller, more traditional building.

Allicante Golf

Alicante Golf

Seve Ballesteros designed course is on the outskirts of Alicante city and close to the San Juan beaches and is unique because the course is par 72 consisting of six par 3 holes, six par 4 holes and six par 5 holes. On the par 5 14th hole you actually play over old Roman ruins and the lake on the 9th hole is in the shape of an 'S' for Seve.

The course is relatively flat but there are long distances between greens and tees and therefore a buggy is almost a must. There are excellent practice facilities with a 70 bay driving range, practice bunkers and chipping and putting areas. The clubhouse and facilities are open all year around from 08.00 till 18.00 in the winter and 08.00 to 21.00 in the summer months.

Las Pinaillas

Altea Club de Golf (Don Cayo)

Altea Club de Golf is located on the lower slopes of the Sierra Bernia mountain close to junction 64 off the A7 motorway and only 15 minutes from Benidorm and is the oldest course on the Costa Blanca being first opened to the public in 1974.

The course is generally know as Don Cayo and is a 9 hole course with a par of 72 playing from 18 different tees with the course measuring 6,044 metres (6,648 yards) from the yellow tees with wonderful mountain and sea views and is characterised by Palm and Jacaranda trees and has a number of well positioned bunkers and water hazards.

The club has a superb clubhouse with views over the course and the small practice area and putting green.

Bonalba Golf

Bonalba

This course was designed by Ramon Espinosa and was opened to the public in 1993 and is located just outside Alicante just a short distance from the beaches of San Juan and is very much a true golfer’s course.

Bonalba is a genuine par 72 championship layout of 6,367 metres (7,004 yards) from the white tees and a handicap slope of 132 which indicates the level of course difficulty.

The course designer has incorporated water hazards, numerous dog-legs and undulating fairways and greens in his plans which ensure that you do not just ‘grip it and rip it’ but need to plot your way around this course.

El Plantio Golf

El Plantio Club

Situated 3 kilometres from the city of Alicante this is an urban course. It has one round of 18 holes and another one of 9, which makes it great for all players.

There is also a practice course with covered tees on two levels and capacity for 120 places, an approach course, a putting green and an international golf school.

Planted with over 45,000 mature trees, over 15,000 bushes and plants and over 500,000 m2 of grassland, this area of semi-desert has been transformed into a beautiful course.

Font Del Llop Golf

Font Del Llop

Nestling in a high sided valley close to the town of Aspe is wonderful golf course called Font del Llop, which literally translated from ‘old’ Spanish means Wolf’s watering hole. This course was designed by Blake Stirling and Marco Martin includes five par 5’s and five par 3’s and measures 5,814 metres (6,395 yards) off the yellow tees and 4,800 metres (5,280 yards) from the ladies red tees.

The course blends naturally into the local scenery and the main feature of the course is a small river (formerly used in beer production) which runs through the course and which inter-links five ponds positioned to catch any errant shots.

La Galiana Golf

La Galiana

La Sella Golf

La Sella

Designed by Ryder Cup and major winner, Jose Maria Olazabal this 27 hole layout with the 18 hole championship course of 6,113 metres (6,724 yards) from the yellow tees is surrounded by the Montgo National Park near Denia.

La Sella recently hosted the European LPGA Nations Cup and features long narrow fairways with numerous blind dog-legs and undulating greens and is one of the most difficult courses in Spain.

Las Pinaillas

Las Pinaillas

Las Pinaillas is a 18 holes course located a few kilometres from the city of Albacete, in an area with pine forest and scrubland on the banks of the Júcar river which forms a beautiful landscape which is pleasant on the eye.

The magnificent design of Severiano Ballesteros is a course of 18 holes, a par 72, 6,150 metres in length, which includes 5 Lakes which have been perfectly integrated into a slightly undulating landscape, that makes the course of "Las Pinaillas" a spectacle in it's own right and worthy of a game when in the area.

Oliva Nova Golf

Oliva Nova

Oliva Nova Golf is a par 72 course of 6,310 metres from the white tees and was designed by the great Seve Ballesteros and is generally flat and therefore easy to walk and is very close to the beach with sea views.

Although the course has wide fairways the strategically placed bunkers and water hazards make this a golfing challenge and the 170 metre (yellow tees) par 3 is the signature hole with a stream bordering the green and is considered one of the best and most difficult short holes in the region.

Puig Campana golf

Puig Campana

The newly opened Puig Campana Golf Course is located just off the CV767 Finestrat road on the outskirts of Benidorm passing the Marina commercial centre.

The Puig Campana 9 hole golf course has an 18 hole par of 72 made up of par 3, par 4 and par 5 holes.
